In Person Sessions - Tokeland, WA

Half Day Workshops are roughly 4 hours long. Our day will consist of roughly 3 hours in the field working on the concepts/shots that are most important to you. Our final hour will be spent on image review and suggestions on ways to continue improving. We will work together with all of the focus being on your improvement. I want you to grow and feel good about your progress.

Conditions will vary but remember we are in the PNW in the fall. That means we will likely see cloudy days and rain. Please dress appropriately. There is also a good chance we will be getting muddy and sandy. Especially if we are working on very low angle shots. I like to wear a wetsuit for these days. Full rain gear will work too. Or just get wet! You will definitely want to bring a change of clothes.

There are a number of lodging options within 30 minutes. A few of my top choices are:

Items you will need to bring:

DSLR or mirrorless camera with long lens

  • minimum 400mm on full frame camera or 300mm on crop sensor camera. A bit more is preferred. I would recommend renting a Tamron or Sigma 150-600mm if you do not have a long lens. If you are in Seattle, I would recommend renting from Glazer’s Camera in downtown Seattle. Another great option is www.lensrentals.com

  • Laptop or tablet to review images

  • Rain gear. Plan to get wet and muddy

  • A change of warm clothes

  • Snacks. Photography is hard work. Keeping our energy up makes learning much more fun

I will provide:

  • Rain covers. We need to protect our cameras and lenses

  • Camera supports - tripod, monopod, ground pod

  • Lens wipes and lens cloths

  • Encouragement!
